Established in 1856, Richmond School is a medium to large primary school, catering for Years 0-6. Richmond is one of the fastest growing towns in New Zealand and is situated 14 kilometres from the city of Nelson, at the top of the South Island. Richmond School has 20 classrooms, organised in to four syndicates. The dedicated teachers are well supported by a skilled support staff team.
All staff members of the school strive to provide a quality education for every student. Additions to daily curriculum programmes include Reading Recovery, Rainbow Reading, Special Abilities Programmes and opportunities for children to excel academically in leadership roles, music and sports.
Richmond School has a junior and senior playground and large grass playing fields. Classrooms have been recently refurbished and a new Resource room, Computer Suite and Library have been built. All classrooms have computers to support daily programmes.Teaching resources are constantly being updated. As Physical Education and Sport is of high priority, there is a well equipped sports shed.
