Hi, I’m Tracey. Having grown up in Christchurch, I left home to join the Airforce and see the world, and was posted to… Wellington! After working in Admin I moved to insurance in the private sector, but this was overtaken by my desire to start a family, and soon I was enjoying being a stay-at-home Mum raising 2 wonderful boys while living in Blenheim. As the boys grew I managed to fit in some part-time care work, first with the elderly, then with people with mental health needs. When I was able to work full-time again, I returned to a career in Insurance, and this brought about a move to Nelson where we have lived since 2010. While some roles centred on sales, I preferred a role that focused on providing service, and building relationships so that clients got to know who they were entrusting their business to.
This was rewarding, but after 11 years I felt I had ‘done my time’ there, and that’s when I saw it; the opportunity to own a Driving Miss Daisy franchise! It was everything I wanted; moving out of the corporate office but still building relationships, while helping people in a very practical way.
Having moved to Richmond in 2016 with my husband Rob, I was ideally placed to take on the Nelson West franchise. And here I am; still the same enjoyment of getting to know our existing clients, and meeting new ones – not just giving rides, but building relationships; it’s not just providing transport but gaining trust, from people who haven’t lost the need to get out and about, but who have lost the means to do so.
